Feist Hedgethorne News

Congratulations to Debbie Beckham, our Payroll Manager on passing her Real Time Information assignment for her MSc in Payroll and Business Management. She has also acheived a grade A for her latest assignment on Developing Skills for Business Leadership.

New Employee

We would like to welcome Nicki Heasman who is joining Feist Hedgethorne as Payroll Assistant, and will be helping Debbie Beckham with the processing of clients' payrolls providing them with guidance on payroll issues. This will be particularly important over the next 12-18 months as we help clients to prepare for the new HMRC Real Time Information regime for PAYE.

More Exams(!)

Debbie Beckham, our Payroll Manager, has just passed her latest MSc module in Payroll and Business Management, which is the highest level qualification in this field. There are currently only 70 people in the country with this qualification.

Exams

Congratulations from the directors and staff at Feist Hedgethorne to Andrew Blake, Diana Cirbiene & Emma Rollings on passing their latest ACCA exams at the Professional level. Good luck with the remaining exams.

Monopoly Competition

Feist Hedgethorne hosted a game for 3 teams in the first round of the Woolley Bevis Diplock Monopoly Championship and came second, so will not be progessing, but we wish all the winners the best of luck in the final rounds. The tournament is raising money for the Argus Appeal and Albion in the Community.

Brighton & Hove Albion FC

Feist Hedgethorne have been members of the Friends of the Albion for many years and were one of the first companies to join the corporate "1901 Club". We have been following the highs and lows in the team's fortunes this season and some of us have been lucky enough to enjoy the heady atmosphere of matches at the new AMEX stadium. If you would like to come along to one of the monthly "Friends" breakfasts at the AMEX as our guest, please contact Vicky. To see the latest fixture's & result's table, please follow the link below.

Rugby Players Get Down To The Bare Essentials

Paul Feist, who is the Finance Director at Eastbourne Rugby Club, stripped down to the "bare essentials" with his fellow directors recently in preparation for the launch of the Club's first photo calendar. The idea was inspired by the Club's chairman, Fraser Brooks and his wife Jane, whose young daughter passed away earlier this year and the proceeds from the sale of the calendars will be split between the Club and the charity which Fraser and Jane have set up to provide support to others in a similar situation.

For a sneak preview of what is to come, please take a look at the attached article and get your orders ready for Christmas!

Jeans For Genes

Feist Hedgethorne has participated in the annual Jeans for Genes fundraising event. Staff were allowed to wear Jeans for the day, but had to make a small donation for the privilege!

Jeans for Genes provides funding for the care and support of children with genetic disorders. They also help to fund research into genetics and the development of effective treatments and cures. Each year they offer funding to a range of charities.

Feist Hedgethorne raised £50 and this will be donated to Jeans for Genes.

Feist Hedgethorne Football Club

The Accountant's Cup was once again hosted by Chantrey Vellacott DFK at the new venue, Waterhall. This year Feist Hedgethorne decided that the score sheet definately needed to be improved. We managed to lose two and draw one match, which doesn't sound great, but to us that was a great achievement and our goal sheet looked a lot healthier! Next year our aim is to win at least one match!

Melanie Benton's 10 Year Anniversary

Melanie reached her 10th anniversary of starting work at Feist Hedgethorne on 26 February 2011. We would like to thank her for her loyalty and her valuable contribtion to the success of the company. To formally recognise this, we have brought her a Kindle, so that she is not weighed down by piles of paperbacks on her trips to France (!), along with an iPod speaker deck. Mel is the sixth person to reach her tenth year with us, joining Megan, Linda, David, Kim and Debbie M, not to mention Paul and Peter who are coming up for 20!

Chantrey Vellacott DFK hosted the Accountant's Challenge Cup in August. We managed to put a team together and despite our lack of training we did score a few goals, however we also let a few in! Feist Hedgethorne Team Photo

Peter Hedgethorne - London Marathon

Peter managed to complete the London Marathon on Sunday 25th April in an impressive 4 hours, 17 minutes and 51 seconds. Although this was not his best time, he did manage to run the whole course for the first time!

Paul Feist - The Argus - Q&A

Paul agreed to "bare his soul" to the Brighton Argus by participating in the newspaper's business supplement Q&A column.

Investors In People Award

Feist Hedgethorne are delighted that they have once again achieved the Investors in People award. This award displays that Feist Hedgethorne take time and effort in maintaining and improving both staff and business performance.

Debbie Marriott’s 10 Year Anniversary

Debbie joined the accounts team in October 1999 and has enjoyed over 10 years with Feist Hedgethorne – she has chosen some original paintings as her award from the company to mark the occasion, and joins Megan, Linda, David and Kim in the “Over Ten Years Club”. As many of you will appreciate, long standing members of staff are a great asset to any company and we hope they all continue to enjoy their time at Feist Hedgethorne and that we will be having some 20 Year Anniversaries in due course!
