About Us

Paul Feist, Director Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987 and set up the Practice in 1992 after spending 5 years working in the tax department at the Brighton office of a national firm of accountants. He is responsible for the affairs of a wide range of companies and businesses which he combines with his role as Managing Director of the firm.

Paul is chairman of the Brighton & Central Sussex Group of Chartered Accountants which represents approximately 1,100 Chartered Accountants in the locality. In his spare time, Paul is treasurer to a local cricket club, coaches rugby at Eastbourne Rugby Club, plays in a squash league and recently joined his wife's gym in order to spend more time with her!

Peter Hedgethorne, Director Peter joined the practice in 1993 and looks after a diverse portfolio of clients. He specialises in tax matters, having spent a number of years working for the tax department of a major national firm. Peter is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, and is also Secretary of the Brighton and Central Sussex Group of Chartered Accountants. He lives in Brighton and is married with three children. He enjoys a number of sporting activities in his leisure time, including badminton and sessions at the gym, and these days can often be found pounding the streets with a view to entering the London Marathon again. On a less active note, he is a season ticket holder at Brighton and Hove Albion, an addiction which he and his family have been living with for over 40 years.

Keith Hall, Director Keith joined the practice in November 2007 from another Brighton based firm, where he had been a partner for over 9 years.

Keith qualified as a Chartered accountant in 1993 having trained with a Brighton based firm. He has a wide and varied portfolio of clients and deals with all aspects of client affairs for both sole traders and limited companies. He has built up a considerable client based in the new media, creative and entertainment industries.

Keith lives in Hove and is married with a young son and his wife is expecting their second child. In his space time Keith likes nothing better then throwing himself down the side of a hill on his mountain bike, spending time with his family and friends or doing the odd job around the house.

Matthew Benton, Manager Matthew is the firm's senior audit and accounts manager having joined the firm in April 2003 from the local office of a top ten national firm where he held a similar position for approximately 10 years. Matthew has experience in a wide variety of business sectors and throughout his career he has primarily dealt with owner managed corporate businesses. Matthew is married with one daughter and lives in Brighton. Away from work can usually be found either at the gym, far too late in the evening than is good for you or trying to finish a started but incomplete DIY project or two!

Kim Ashurst, Manager Kim joined Feist Hedgethorne in 1998 to train as a Chartered Accountant after having gained a degree in Accountancy at Brighton University. She qualified in 2001 and stayed to pursue her career with the firm. Kim is now jointly responsible with Matthew Benton for managing the busy accounts and audit department. Kim has a particular interest in IT and she is responsible for providing Sage software training to our clients and helping to keep our staff up to date with the latest developments. In addition, she is responsible for dealing with the accounts of our Doctor clients which is one of the areas in which she specialises.

Outside work, one of Kim's activities includes helping to run a facility for young people in Seaford where they can learn and practice music and she can sometimes be seen out and about in local pubs and other venues playing in her band.

He joined us in 2001, having previously worked as a broker consultant for Standard Life where he obtained many of his advanced financial planning qualifications.
