Paul Feist, Director 

Paul Feist

Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987 and set up the Practice in 1992 after spending 5 years working in the tax department at the Brighton office of a national firm of accountants.  He is responsible for the affairs of a wide range of companies and businesses which he combines with his role as Managing Director of the firm.

Paul is chairman of the Brighton & Central Sussex Group of Chartered Accountants which represents approximately 1,100 Chartered Accountants in the locality.  In his spare time, Paul is treasurer to a local cricket club, coaches rugby at Eastbourne Rugby Club, plays in a squash league and recently joined his wife's gym in order to spend more time with her!

Peter Hedgethorne, Director 

Peter Hedgethorne

Peter joined the practice in 1993 and looks after a diverse portfolio of clients. He specialises in tax matters, having spent a number of years working for the tax department of major national firms. Peter is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, and is also Secretary of the Brighton and Central Sussex Group of Chartered Accountants. He lives in Brighton and is married with three children, who are gradually moving off to different parts of the country. His main sporting activity these days is running in various races around Sussex and he can regularly be seen pounding the local streets, parks and downland. Peter is planning to run his first Brighton Marathon in April, and is trying not to think about it too much (although that won't make it go away). On a less active note, he is a season ticket holder at Brighton and Hove Albion, an addiction which he and his family have been living with for over 40 years, and is looking forward to taking his seat at Falmer in August.

Jamie Young, Director

Jamie Young

Jamie qualified as a chartered accountant in 1992 with a national firm of chartered accountants. He then worked in a variety of roles as Finance Director and Financial Controller for both small and large domestic and international corporations for over 18 years. He has seen businesses through radical growth, international expansion and guided corporations out of serious financial and commercial problems. Whilst working in the City of London for a major professional services firm he was in charge of financial operations for ten international offices including Prague, Hong Kong and San Francisco, with a combined turnover of 50 million pounds.

Jamie specialises in providing part time finance director services to a range of businesses in differing business sectors.

Matthew Benton, Manager 

Matthew Benton

Matthew is the firm's senior audit and accounts manager having joined the firm in April 2003 from the local office of a top ten national firm where he held a similar position for approximately 10 years. Matthew has experience in a wide variety of business sectors and throughout his career he has primarily dealt with owner managed corporate businesses. Matthew is married with one daughter and lives in Brighton.  Away from work can usually be found either at the gym, far too late in the evening than is good for you or trying to finish a started but incomplete DIY project or two!

Karen Oliver, Tax Manager

Karen joined Feist Hedgethorne as Tax Manager in May 2008, having qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor with a major national firm some years ago. Since then Karen has worked for several firms, nationally and locally, developing a wide range of experience in both business and personal taxation and dealing with individuals resident in the UK and overseas. Karen is married with 3 children, has been a school governor at 2 local schools and now runs a Colts cricket team. At the weekend Karen is usually found on the touchline watching her sons play in one sport or other but if she had some spare time, Karen would like to start running again and complete her second half marathon.

Luke Thomas, Manager


Luke is part of the Feist Hedgethorne management team, joining in November 2008. Having gained a degree in Accounting & Finance at Brighton University, he joined a local firm of chartered accountants to train as a Chartered Certified Accountant. After qualifying in 2006 Luke was soon promoted to management. Luke, along with Matthew Benton and Tim Morton, is now responsible for managing the ever expanding client base. Luke has recently acheived fellowship status having completed 5 years post qualification membership and training with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

In his spare time, Luke, who resides in Seaford, enjoys various activities including golf when the weather is nice and keeping fit by running regularly. He is also a lifelong supporter of Tottenham Hotspur!’

Tim Morton, Manager

Tim 2012

Tim joined Feist Hedgethorne in 2002 as a member of the accounts team and qualified with the Association of Accounts Technicians the following year. He was promoted to the role of manager in 2010. Tim's background is in the retail industry and he worked in management in two local independent department stores including Bentalls and Hanningtons. Tim lives in Worthing with his wife and two children. In his spare time, Tim is the treasurer for a local church. He enjoys listening to music and plays guitar. Tim also likes cycling when the weather is favourable!

Simon Robinson, Director, Feist Hedgethorne Independent Financial Advisers Limited 

Simon Robinson

Simon runs an associated company providing independent financial advice and guidance to many of our clients. The company was started in July 2000 and has grown significantly, now looking after over £20,000,000 of clients funds through pension and investment arrangements.

His key philosophy is to improve the quality of our client's financial position by helping them to look after their money and lessen their administrative burden. This often reduces a lot of the worries that can arise when investing capital and mitigating tax.

Simon is qualified to Diploma level and is a member of the Personal Finance Society. He primarily offers advice on a fee basis and would be happy to advise you either on a one off, transactional basis or through a long term relationship designed to meet your needs.
